Hello dear Silly Geckos,

Today, we will reveal the story behind the creation of the Silly Gecko Gang, from it’s beginning to end. First of all, we must admit that our intention was not to build a collection made of Geckos since Geckos were a choice that was thought as a plan B.

So before the Geckos, during our first project, we knew that there would be issues during the building stages of it since we did not visualize the things that were on our minds as well as we should have been.

We were losing motivation after every step, as if we knew that something was going wrong. Well, the collection we created was intended to be used as a ticket for some irl activities, which failed. This was the last straw, we started noticing that the collection is going nowhere. All the effort and money we wasted started to make us feel unmotivated so we didn’t do anything for a few days and thought about the future of the collection. In the end, we have left our disappointment behind and started thinking actively.

After a while, we decided to put the collection on hold, and started thinking about a new beginning, so that we would have a brand new collection, which is solid, unique and creative. When the idea of building this collection based on geckos came to our minds, we were so hyped that all the motivation, money and time we have lost have stopped being a disappointment for us. We knew that it wasn’t going to be easy and that we must go over all the road once again but the idea that we had has made us blind, so we didn’t mind.

After a while, our ideas about the visuality of our geckos started to get clear. The first thing in our minds was the geckos should look silly and a little bit happy since it would fit the lore more than the alternatives, and this would make them look positive and sympathetic. As you know, being positive gives a good first impression which is important.

We started the drawing stage based on our ideas, however the first prototypes were so bad that we spent our first night only laughing at them. After some time we realized that it’s not funny but frustrating, and started working to get someone on our team.

The painful stage was just beginning, we started reaching out to the artists who we knew and who we were sure about their qualifications, and we talked to them about the visualization that was on our minds. However we noticed that they did not fit our project, since some of them were not as qualified as we thought and the rest of them did not want to pay the attention required. At this point, we had put so much effort and spent so much money right at the beginning.

After all these, we realized that we should get in touch with some artists that we’ve known for a long time, since it would be easier for the team to communicate and the artists’ financial expectations would be less. After a few friend meetings and countless number of gecko attempts, we realized that we failed to create the art that was on our minds, and buried this idea as we didn’t want to put our friends into unneeded effort so we changed our method of searching. We started paying and processing an order for a gecko prototype, to almost every single artist we have seen online.

Finally we have found the artist that we were looking for and we have talked about what we wish. When we noticed that she is the one we are looking for, we told her about the rest of our project and started a meeting to get her into our team. After months of work and countless revisions, we were finally able to build the entire Silly Gecko collection which was on our minds at the beginning.

Silly Gecko 1.0

As for now, we have an algorithm which we put the variables in such as possibilities and ratios so through these variables, the algorithm provides our art randomly and automatically.

From now on, it’s just a matter of time for our project to be shown off!
